Layered Salad Recipe

Layered Salad Recipe - 10 side-dish servings


1 small head iceberg lettuce, finely chopped

1/2 cup green onion, thinly sliced

1 cup celery, thinly sliced

8-ounce can sliced water chestnuts, drained

2 cups fresh baby peas

1 cup fat-free or light mayonnaise

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

2 tablespoons grated reduced-fat cheddar cheese

1 tomato, thinly sliced

3 slices crisp-broiled Canadian bacon, finely chopped


Using a shallow glass bowl, layer lettuce, green onion, celery, water chestnuts, and peas. Cover and chill. Just before serving, spread with mayonnaise. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with cheese and spread tomato and Canadian bacon over top. Do not toss, serve layered.
