Garlic Mashed Potatoes Recipe

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Recipe - 4 servings


1 1/2 pounds potatoes (about 4 medium-large)


10 large garlic cloves (about 1 head), peeled

1/3-1/2 cup hot chicken broth, preferably homemade

1/3 cup hot nonfat milk


Wash potatoes, then pare and quarter. In a 2 1/2 quart saucepan, cover potatoes with water, adding 1/2 teaspoon salt per 1 cup water, and heat to boiling. Cover and boil 15 minutes. Add garlic. Continue boiling until potatoes are tender, 10 to 20 minutes, drain cooking water.


Using a potato masher or electric mixer, mash hot potatoes thoroughly until no lumps remain. Gradually beat in hot chicken broth (amount depends on kind and age of potatoes used). Gradually beat in hot milk. Beat until potatoes are smooth and fluffy.
