Apple-Cranberry Pie Recipe - 8 servingsIngredients: 3 large red delicious apples, peeled, cored and cut into eighths 1 cup fresh cranberries, picked over and rinsed 1/2 cup fresh raisins 1/2 tablespoon sugar 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch 1 teaspoon cinnamon 2 easy pastry crusts, unbaked 1 egg, slightly beaten 1 tablespoon water |
Method: In a bowl, combine apples, cranberries and raisins, toss with 1/2 cup of the sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon. Pour into a 9-inch pastry-lined pie plate. Arrange crust over top and flute edges. Using a sharp knife, make slits in top of crust to create steam vents. Combine egg with water and brush over pie crust. Sprinkle with remaining 1 tablespoon sugar. Bake at 400oF for 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 350oF and bake 30 minutes more. Remove to rack to cool. Serve warm or cold. |
