Tuna with Tomato-and-Basil Sauce Recipe

Tuna with Tomato-and-Basil Sauce Recipe - 4 servings


2 tablespoons olive oil

2 cloves garlic

3 tomatoes, diced

1/4 cup finely chopped fresh basil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 pound fresh tuna (about 1/2 inch thick)

1 bunch arugula or red leaf lettuce

Freshly ground pepper to taste


Prepare coals and cover the grill with foil. In a blender or food processor, combine olive oil, garlic, tomatoes, basil, salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper, and puree until smooth. Grill tuna over hot coals about 5 minutes or until done, turning only once. Line individual plates with arugula leaves. Arrange tuna on top. Grind black pepper over tuna. Pass with sauce.
