2 pounds clams

2 pounds mussels


Thoroughly wash clams and mussels. Cover with salt water (1/3 cup salt to 1 gallon of cold water). Let stand 30 minutes. Rinse. Repeat cleaning process 2 times. Place clams and mussels on rack in stock pot with 2 cups hot water. Cover tightly and steam 5-10 minutes, or just until shells open.
