Soft Pretzels Recipe

Soft Pretzels Recipe - 1 dozen


1 package active dry yeast

1 1/2 cups lukewarm water

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon sugar

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 egg, beaten


Dissolve yeast in water, add salt, sugar and flour. Knead 5 to 10 minutes, adding more flour as necessary to reduce stickiness. Divide dough into 12 pieces. Twist dough into the shape of pretzels, cars, trucks, airplanes. flowers, trees, gingerbread boys, numerals, or circles. Place on a nonstick baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg. Bake in a 425oF oven 15 minutes, or until lightly browned.
